The IMPRINT Network and Vaccines in Pregnancy Canada (VIP Canada) at the University of Calgary share one mission: improving the health of mothers and babies through immunisation. Promoting vaccine uptake and empowering expectant mothers with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions during pregnancy are integral parts of both organisations’ work. They recognise that vaccine decision-making can feel overwhelming and is shaped not only by medical facts but also by personal experiences, cultural context, and access to information.

Now, to ensure expectant mothers have easy access to clear and trustworthy resources, IMPRINT and VIP Canada have teamed up to create a new series of maternal immunisation videos. These videos provide essential educational background to help pregnant women strengthen their understanding of, and confidence in, vaccines.

The collection features a new animated video on Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccination in pregnancy, which offers a quick explanation of how the vaccine works and why it matters. A second video explains the Tdap vaccine, which offers protection against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough), and highlights how the vaccine can safeguard newborns. The series also includes an interview with VIP Canada founder and clinical lead, Dr Eliana Castillo, who outlines the key reasons for vaccination during pregnancy - from the increased risks infections pose to mothers and infants, to the unique opportunity to pass protective antibodies to babies before they are born.

In addition to these expert videos, IMPRINT and VIP Canada have also produced a collection of testimonials from mothers who share their personal experiences with vaccination and explain why they chose to be vaccinated to protect their own health and the health of their babies. Their stories provide a powerful insight into the questions, concerns, and motivations many expectant mothers navigate when considering vaccination in pregnancy.

All new videos are now available on the IMPRINT video page.
